This year marks 40 years in the fashion industry for Roberto Cavalli and he is only getting better. For Spring 2011, he is once again pushing boundaries in the only way he knows how with sensuality, feminine silhouettes and barely-there ensembles that are not for the faint of heart. All of the pieces are standout and extremely seductive. Dresses feature crochet and fringe detailing and are made of sheer chiffon among other fabrics that give off a bewitching vibe, entrancing the onlooker and leading us all to wonder how the pieces are staying together while not showing everything. Surely a trick of the trade that Cavalli has down to a science.
Pants and jackets are made of leather and the finest of exotics skins including crocodile and python and feature lace-up detailing, leaving little to the imagination. Every piece has its own hint of shimmer and shine because sequins and crystals delicately blanket everything. The palette for the collection ranges from icy neutrals to black and naturally Cavalli’s signature animal prints are featured throughout, though in a subtle way.
No one can beat Cavalli’s craftmanship and his excellence in conveying that a woman’s sexiness is never a downfall, yet a major part of her power and strength.
