Ray Oranges was born in 1983 in Calabria in southern Italy, in a small seaside town. His talent for illustrations and drawing was clear from the early age when, with the use of a magnifying glass and the help of the sun, he drew on small sheets of plywood everything he saw and imagined (which are still on a window, yellowed by the sun). On 28 September 2001, after years of “Calabra” culture, he takes a bus and he leaves the south of Italy travelling along 900 km with his dreams suitcase dreams, to land in Tuscany, the of Renaissance’s capital culture. Florence charm and culture lead Ray to get a degree in design and to take part in an endless workshops series, seminars and various kind of courses, that show a strong vocation for visual communication in general.
After graduating he arrived in the work world, which gave him the opportunity to develop and to deepen his knowledge in graphic and communication. Following the collaboration with various studies, Ray began his free lancer career as a graphic designer / illustrator, having the opportunity to interact with several Italian and international customers. The style that emerges in his works is determined not by a rigid stylistic choice, but by the topic every time in a different way; therefore the idea always prevail on style. Minimalism, spaces, few details are the logical consequence of this choice.
After years of traveling around the Europe, trying to find various inspirations, he decides to get away for a while; Next stop in fact it’s to move in Denmark (Copenhagen), a country well known for non-tropical climate, but he does not care about this. Up to now, Ray has traveled 2378 km away from his home, but he promises him self to reduce the distance between him and the sun.
