We The Printers
Royal Sweetness is a unique baking company. From small cakes to huge custom wedding cakes, Royal Sweetness has it with their crazy bakery ideas. This card was designed to fit the companies style, very custom and different. So, we did just that for their business cards. This special card has a custom die-cut complimented with Silver Foil and a Dusted Spot UV. You can really see the detail from the images!

The process for designing January Creative’s business cards was a lengthy one. Balancing the design and cohesiveness of the visual identity of the brand with the need to stand out among the millions of business cards passed around daily, the decision to use spot UV to give it a two-dimensional shine with a three-dimensional tactile surface was almost a no-brainer. To help add an extra element to the printed piece, the decision was made to have two sets printed so that the cards could alternate in colors, evident in the image above. Once the cards were designed, the process of getting them printed presented challenges.
There was actually a last-minute change to the size of the card to help reduce printing costs. January Creative’s cards were printed on 16pt stock, full bleed, and cut to the slim size of 1.5 inches by 3.5 inches. Full CMYK printing and spot UV gloss meant that the cards were actually printed twice: once for color and a second time for gloss. Finally, two sets of cards were ordered, one set with green “backs” and the other with blue “backs.” Since being eco-friendly is a HUGE part of January Creative, the cards were printed using soy-based inks on paper produced from legally forested trees. Even the spot UV coating on the cards is eco-friendly: the coating contains very little if any volatile organic compounds (VOC) that is harmful to the atmosphere.
