Spain
Photograph By James Blair (Around 1577, El Greco—an outspoken, flamboyant Greek painter in his mid-30s—journeyed to Spain to seek his fortune. In time his adopted land would claim him as one of its greatest artists, and the identities of El Greco (The Greek) and Toledo would become closely linked.)
Santa María la Blanca Church
Photograph By James Blair (In 1411, during the dark chapter of repression, the city’s oldest synagogue was converted into the church of Santa María la Blanca. Muslims, Jews, and Christians had coexisted for 700 years until intolerance flamed; unconverted Jews were expelled from Spain in 1492.)

Barcelona – Olympic Village – Hotel Arts Darrell Godliman
Compared to the newer Barcelona landmarks such as the Torre Agbar and the Torres de la Fira the SOM designed Arts Hotel looks somewhat dated with its Hi-tech style.
From Wikipedia : “The Hotel Arts is a 39-story, 600 room luxury hotel on the seafront of Barcelona, in Spain. Contrary to popular belief, it was not built to service the 1992 Summer Olympics, though its construction was part of the big changes underwent by the city to prepare the Games. It remains one of the city’s leading hotels. It is operated by the Ritz-Carlton hotel chain.
Barcelona – Rambla de Mar
Here is the Rambla de Mar extension of the Rambla, lit by the last of the late afternoon sunlight.
From Wikipedia : “Port Vell (Literally ‘Old Harbour’ in Catalan) is a waterfront harbour in Barcelona, Spain. It was built as part of an urban renewal program prior to the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Before this, it was a run-down area of empty warehouses, railroad yards, and factories. 16 million people visit the complex each year. (Photo By Darrell Godliman)

Paris
Paris is a densely settled metropolis, but one with numerous small parks and gardens. Most public places have benches or chairs, which encourage people to stop, rest, and talk. And of course sidewalk cafés, like this one, are everywhere. (Photograph by Steven Greaves, My Shot)
Notre Dame
The Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris was among the first churches to have flying buttresses. It’s also known for its stained-glass windows, pointed arches, and rib vaulting and was crucial in the development of the French Gothic style. Construction began in 1163, during the reign of Louis VII. (Photograph by Mark Cannon, My Shot)

Louvre, Paris
World-renowned architect I. M. Pei designed the glass and steel pyramid that tops the main entrance to the Louvre museum in Paris, controversial when it debuted in 1989. The Louvre stretches almost half a mile (0.8 kilometers) along the River Seine, farther than two Eiffel Towers laid end to end. Its priceless works of art include the “Mona Lisa,” the “Venus de Milo,” and more than 20,000 other Greek and Roman antiquities. (Photograph by Michael Gurrey, My Shot)
Chenonceau Castle, Loire Valley
Boaters and bikers alike enjoy the scenery around Chenonceau Castle in the Loire Valley. King Henri II made a gift of the elegant Chenonceau palace to his mistress Diane de Poitiers. After his death, she was forced by his wife, Catherine de Médicis, to exchange it for the nearby Chaumont chateau. (Photograph by Irek)
Eiffel Tower
Built for the 1889 World’s Fair in Paris, the Eiffel Tower, with its record height and panoramic views, didn’t do much for the critics, who called it unsightly. Today it’s one of the most recognizable buildings in the world. (Photograph by Milan Patnaik)
